Shaving set of MÜHLE, silvertip badger, with a safety razor, handle material made of briar wood
The Material – Briar wood – PURIST Shaving Set Design Series
This material has long been valued by lovers of fine tobacco pipes or inlaid work. However, only a few people know that the exquisite briar wood is obtained from the Erica arborea which grows exclusively in Mediterranean regions. In order to process the vividly grained wood for brushes and razors, the wood is first cooked.
Only then does its beautiful reddish to brown colouring develop and accentuates. The sections free of cracks and inclusions are then processed with great diligence: sanded into shape, stained by hand, then waxed and finally polished. In this way, each work piece becomes an individual unique piece.
Chrome, the final touch added to the masterpiece, demonstrates its best qualities: The material is corrosion-resistant, very long-lasting and has a luxurious, alluring lustre. When contrasted with this, the shapes and colours of other premium materials are shown to their very best advantage.
The Brush head – Silvertip badger – PURIST Shaving Set Design Series
Among connoisseurs, silvertip badger is regarded as the pièce de résistance: Only the best, carefully selected badger hair is used for these genuinely handcrafted shaving brushes. The precious natural material is particularly soft and flexible.
The fine, conical tapering hairs possess the ability to retain a large amount of water and creates a dense, creamy lather. A pronounced sign of high quality of badger hair is the even black band running horizontally through the predominantly silvery gleaming hair. This premium product is manufactured using historical tools in a highly artisanal procedure mastered by only a few specialists worldwide.
The semi-circular shape of the brush head is produced by hand when binding the brush. The fine tips therefore do not require trimming and the natural softness of the hair is retained.
The Razor head – Classic razor blade – PURIST Shaving Set Design Series
For generations, the safety razor has been regarded as a stylish classic which can shave edges with precision. For many, it is the razor par excellence.
Even if the open blade does demand a little respect at first: After a brief familiarization period, and guided by a steady hand, it produces a very close shave and a lasting result. Unlike modern blade systems, the head of the safety razor does not move. The blades are replaced by unscrewing the cap. They can be purchased from us and by retailers everywhere.
