Sandblasted Acorn with Ivorite
The only smooth portion of this sandblasted Acorn from Alex Florov is at the rim, which offers a smooth chamfer around the tobacco chamber that contrasts its polished surface with the craggy sandblast that graces the stummel. Its growth rings are tightly angled in concentric circles rising up the bowl in harmony with the forward cant and visual lines of the shank, while that shank gently expands to the Ivorite accent.
There's a bit of asymmetry at the rim, the tobacco chamber uncentered when viewing it from above, and the slightest whisper of plateau adds to that aspect along the forward left. The saddle, cumberland mouthpiece provides coloring that suits itself well in conjunction with the reddish hue of the bowl and dark disposition of the overall piece. An understated bend in that stem contributes to the svelte and lengthy impression of the form whose organic disposition is wonderfully minimalist for this creative and well-balanced rendition.
