Late 19th-century apothecary cabinet from Shanxi province, China, that were used to store and organize Chinese herbs in a medicinal hall or pharmacy. Nails could be spotted in some areas on the side of the drawers, to repair and reinforce the internal dividing panels as it ages. Some of the missing handles have been replaced with similar brass ring ones. There are thirty-two drawers in total: thirty square ones each with three compartments, and two large drawers below each with four compartments. All the drawers have paper labels to indicate the herbs that were stored inside. Original color and patina with a clear matte lacquer finish.
