This is a wonderful Hand Carved Wood Pende Bearded Mask from the Western Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Pende are the most art-producing cultures from the Western Congo. They are probablybest known for their Mbuya initiation masks which are worn and treasured for life.This Pende style mask has geometric designs and a heavy white kaolin clay surface.
