Pristine Paneled Bent Dublin with Spalted Maple Accents (5) (One Star)
We see a lot of paneled renditions from Mark Tinsky, the American carver taking liberties with traditional shapes in ways that are quite appealing. He presents a bent Dublin design here, so smooth as to almost appear round when viewed in profile, but displaying a hexagon shape when seen from above.
A bright auburn stain and smooth finish highlight sweeping flame grain, the tight striations rising nearly perfectly in concert with the bowl on the right flank, and maple accents on the top and sides of rim as well as shank end further elevate the design. In keeping with its fine grain orientation and quality, it has earned a "star" stamp, a well earned honor to be sure.
