This Akahada-yaki kensui (waste water bowl) is made from a coarse clay body with a delightfully rustic texture and features pronounced 'rokuro me' (ろくろ目) which are the spiralling lines left by the potter's fingers as they shape the vessel on the wheel. Its translucent glaze brings out the warmth of the clay's natural beige hue. This kensui was made by the Akiyama Kiln (昭山窯), stamped 赤膚山, a traditional stamp of Akahada-yaki.
