The trays are Sanuki lacquerware from Kagawa prefecture in Shikoku. They are coated in a warm, brown, translucent lacquer which really brings out the beautiful natural grain of the wood.
Decorated with a lucky maneki neko. Around the maneki neko is written, ‘migi te de okane, hidari te de hito no en.’ (A raised right hand brings luck with money and a raised left hand brings luck with people). The artist’s signature has been carved in the bottom corner. The back of the tray is carved in rough concentric circles.
