Vintage Virgin Mary 18K Gold Plique-à-Jour Pendant

A very remarkable 18 K Solid Gold pendant, dating back to 1936, with rare and unusual features as follows :

a) It has measurements of 30 mm diameter - without bail - and is round

b) Its weight is a heavy 5.0 grams

c) It is made using the “Plique-à-jour” technique : Plique-à-jour (French for "letting in daylight") is a vitreous enameling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel.

d) The pendant is high relief and made in France. It represents the Virgin Mary in 3/4 face. It is in a remarkable pristine condition.

e) It is hallmarked with the Eagle's head which is the French hallmark for 18K Gold.

f) It is marked with JM initials on the reverse and with a date 7 June 1936.
