Igor Ivanovich Gubsky was born on June 11, 1954 in the city of Kadievka (since 1978 renamed into Stakhanov).
In 1973 he graduated from the Voroshilovgrad State Art School.
From 1973 to 1979 he studied at the Kiev State Art Institute in the workshop of V.G. Puzyrkov. From the very first courses of the KGHI he took part in city, republican and all-Union art exhibitions, and from the mid-1980s in international expositions.
After serving in the army in 1981, Igor Gubsky entered graduate school, studied at the creative workshops of the USSR Academy of Arts under Professor S.A. Grigoriev. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR since 1983.
In 1990, at the Cristie's auction, all submitted works are sold. The works of I.I. Gubsky are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery (Russia), in the Kunstmuseum (Sweden), in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, in Horlivka, Sumy and Lugansk art museums, in gallery and private collections in Ukraine, Great Britain, Israel, Canada, USA, Sweden and others countries.
